For econocmical production, it is desirable to process coils with largest possible weights & diameters. Hence, the incoming hot rolled coils of small diamteres are welded together on the coil build up line and new larger coils formed. This allows faster processing of the material on subsequent lines. Pre-lap or flash butt welders can be provided.
